There are so many ways that we can teach our kids to give of their time, energy and talents. Serving others is a whole other post that I will write about sometime soon! Today, I want to share some of the opportunities that we have had this summer to give back! There is no better feeling than giving and teaching your kids that it is better to give than receive. My hubby and I have found that one way to effectively teach our kids to give back is by partner with organizations.
Organizations and charities have done an amazing job to create venues, events, videos, and challenges that are fun, creative, and make you excited to give to their cause.
Some of the organizations that we have participated in that have captured the hearts of our kids are:
{Alex’s Lemonade Stand} began with a four year old girl that had been diagnosed with cancer and had a dream to find a way to eradicate childhood cancer. One girl’s dream turned into a organization that raises millions for childhood cancer research. Check out {Alex’s Lemonade Stand} to find out how to start your own lemonade stand!
I am sure that you have heard of the ice bucket challenge! When my blonde sweet girl caught wind of it she just had to do it! Dump a bucket full of ice on yourself, show it through social media and raise money for research towards {ALS}(Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Check out the {ALS} website for more information about ALS, and how you can give back to help fight this disease.
Throughout the year you can find races where you walk or run to support a organization, or charity. These runwalks are among my favorites because I feel like we are doing what we love while supporting people who really need it! We have breast cancer survivors in our family and so this is near and dear to our hearts. At the {komen}website you can find out how you can help or find an event near you to participate in!
