Patriotic Fruit Skewers

With Fourth of July around the corner and my bursting with berries series kicked into full gear, I decided to show off my patriotic fruit skewers! The sweetness of the berries with the deliciousness
of the cake makes this red, white, and blue dessert a party in my mouth! Serve this alongside some fresh whipped cream at your Fourth of July shin dig!

• 1
  pound cake or angel food cake
• 1
  star cookie cutter
• 12
  wood skewer sticks
• 16 ounce container
  strawberries
• 1 pint
  blueberries

1. Cut cake into thick slices
2. Places the star cookie cutter into the cake and pop out the star shape, set stars aside

3. Wash berries

4. Cut tops off the strawberries

5. Stack 5 blueberries on top of the skewer

6. From the bottom of the skewer stack a star and then a strawberry, repeat until skewer is full

7. You may have extra berries, or you can build skewers until you run out! Don’t waste the cake edges, eat them or use them to make a parfait 🙂
