We have hit the ground running with all things fall. School is in session, sports have kicked into high gear, and life is all around crazy!
I am used to not having enough time to linger over and enjoy my meals, especially breakfast and lunch! I tend to look for foods that are healthy, quick, and can be eaten on the go, while folding laundry, or while typing away on the computer!
I am getting better at taking some time to sit, unwind, and enjoy eating over a good book or great conversation! What helps are taking healthy snack breaks inbetween!
One of my favorite healthy snacks to eat both on the go and sitting down are protein bars. I remember the first bar I ever ate, how it tasted, and how much I enjoyed snacking healthy!
Recently, while grocery shopping I came across Zone Perfectly Simple Bars and decided to do some label reading! I like what I saw! Great flavors like Bing Cherry Almond, and Almond Toffee Crunch and 10 grams of protein per bar!
I ripped open the box right there and ate a Bing Cherry Almond bar! Whew, was it delicious! Big pieces of bing cherries, chunks of almond, sweet white chips all wrapped up in some other goodness like almond butter and honey!
When the kids come home from after school it’s late and dinner is already cooking. They don’t always have the chance to eat a full meal before sports so they need a snack to hold them over. I created these healthy cereal treats that are full flavored, sweet treats that are packed with protein.
These healthy cereal treats have multi-grain cereal, almond butter, honey, Zone Perfectly Simple Bars, and yogurt chips on top! I stir these cereal treats up 30 minutes before the kids come home from school and they are ready to enjoy when they walk through the door!
- 4 cups Multigrain Cereal-I used Trader Joe’s Multigrain cereal
- ½ cup creamy almond butter
- ½ cup honey
- ⅓ cup yogurt chips
- 2 Zone Perfectly Simple Bing Cherry Almond Bars
- 2 Zone Perfectly Simple Almond Toffee Crunch Bars
- Grease 8×8 baking dish
- In a large bowl stir together the cereal, almond butter, and honey.
- Crumble the bars over the bowl and stir well.
- Spread evenly in baking dish, and spread yogurt chips on top!
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- If still not completely ready to cut, place in freezer for 15 minutes until harden!
- Enjoy! Place leftovers in the refrigerator!
