Fall and Football..Two Family Faves

For our 4th Annual Football Party we had an amazing fall day! We invite all our friends to wear their fave football team colors and to bring their fave gameday dish! We do a football game on our freshly painted backyard football field and new this year we had half time games with candy prizes! For dessert we serve up gameday faves including ice cream sundaes!
Enjoy this post filled with some creative, fun decorations, games and food! Of course, there are moments and things I forgot to take pictures of  because of playing hostess…but I will sure to include these next year…so for now…just a small taste of touchdown success 🙂

It all starts with the most important part…the football field! Each year my hubby creates a football field complete with end zone, team icon on center field, pile ons, and stadium lights!

Next, I decorate the inside complete with buffet table, main table that has white paper that the kids can draw on, coffee & tea bar, hot apple cider, balloons thrown around the room for the kids to kick around, football eye stickers and tattoos to get the kids ready for the game, streamers and decorative footballs hung throughout the house!

This year I did pigs in a blanket and bought a package of 10 hot dogs so I had to get two packages of crescent rolls, leaving me with 6 additional crescent rolls. Hmmm what can I create…ahh yes let’s do mini quiches! First for the pigs in a blanket you wipe the hot dogs down with a paper towel and wrap each hot dog in a crescent roll and bake according to the crescent roll package! Cut into threes and serve!
Now for the six remaining crescent tolls..take two and pinch them together to make a square, cut into 6 squares. Take care square and place it in a mini muffin pan. Mix together 3 eggs, 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese, 1 tablespoon parsley, and a couple slices of ham, finely chopped. Add a small spoonful of egg mixture to each crust bake at 375 for 15 min. Now the original recipe calls for a whole package of crescent rolls but since I was only using six I had some left over egg mixture so I made an omelet 🙂
Next I take out Betty Crocker’s Ultimate Chocolate Chip recipe and I go to town creating all types of mixtures. I start out with the original cookie mixture, double it, and divide into six. I add M&Ms to one batch, to another toasted walnuts, to another a handful of coconut, and to another a scoop of peanut butter, to the fifth batch butterscotch chips, and to the last a handful of oatmeal! Each cookie is warm, chewy and bursting with flavor!
One of my fave fall treats is acorns…made with nutter butter mini cookies, Hershey kisses and chocolate chips this is one acorn you cant get enough of! My kids send a bag into each of their teachers, we send some to the neighbors, and of course have plenty to go around for the football party! These acorns are a great kids in the kitchen activity! Take a microwavable plate and put in the microwave for 15 seconds, place Hersey kisses on the plate to allow them to slightly melt and then place on the nutter butter. Do the same with the chocolate chips. Enjoy 🙂
For half time games I had all the kids gather together and play corn hole with footballs, and then I had them throw a little football through a field goal post, and lastly I found these plastic football cups & hats at Party City, I hot glued the cup to the hat and had someone wear the hat and had another person try to get a little football in the cup! Great fun and even better with candy as prizes!
