#12 Days Of Thankfulness-Thankful Tree

During the month of November we are taking 12 days to share with you the things we create and do to express what we are thankful for!

This year our family has been blessed with much joy and reasons to be thankful; we have also experienced sorrow, hurt, and life changing moments too. Join us as we celebrate 12 days of being thankful for all things in our lives both big and small.

For our first day of thankfulness, we created a thankful tree as a visual for us to remember how we have been blessed! thankful tree
I am so not crafty in this way, but I had Google and my trusty fiskar scissors on my side! I looked up a picture of a bare tree and before long this tree came to life. It’s not the most perfect but the wood paper covers up all my shortcomings in the craft department!

My blonde sweet girl and I cut leaves out of scrapbook paper and asked everyone in our family to write what they are thankful for.

Each day we plan to add another leaf to the tree as a reminder to give thanks for all things in our lives!

thankful tree steps

1. Choose a wood or bark style paper from your craft store. I have seen regular paper as well as contact paper.  If you need to, look up a picture of a bare tree. Turn your paper over and sketch out the tree that you want. Cut the tree out.

2. Find a place to display the tree. Be sure it’s in a place that the tree can be clearly seen. Tape the tree to the wall; if you are using contact paper peel off the backing before adhering to the wall.

3. Using scrapbook paper cut out different sized leaves. Ask each member of your family to write what they are thankful for! Use 1 leaf for each day as a way to practice sharing what you are thankful for.
Having family or friends over? Add to your tree by having them fill out a leaf too!

4. Use tape to place the leaves on the tree or place them like they are falling to the ground.

Once a week spend some time reading all the leaves to look back and see all the ways that your family has taken time to give thanks.

Here are some of the leaves that we are displaying on our thankful tree:
