Welcome to the second week of bountiful brunch month! This strawberry creme stuffed french toast is a family favorite and worth getting out of bed for! My hubby gets creative in the kitchen with this sweet,soft but a little crunchy, fruity, creamy, doughy deliciousness! He uses a sour dough bread that he slices thick and makes the perfect slit in the bread to be able to stuff it with a strawberry creme filling, and with adding a little crunch on top from crushed cereal this stuffed french toast cooks to perfection, and we are serving it up with fresh whipped cream and warm maple syrup!
Strawberry Creme Stuffed French Toast
Ingredients
- The Bread
- 1 Sourdough Bread Loaf
- The Dredge
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup milk
- 2 Tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- The Filling
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 lb strawberries,chopped saving ¼ cup for top
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- The Crunch
- 2 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, crushed
Instructions
- Heat up a griddle to 350, if you don’t have a griddle a stove-top skillet pan works great!
- Cut bread into thick slices, and then taking a knife make a slit in the bread creating a well where the filling will go.
- Combine together eggs,milk, cinnamon and vanilla. Set aside.
- Mix together cream cheese,strawberries,confectioners sugar and cinnamon. The filling should be thick and creamy.
- Put filling into a ziploc bag and push all the filling to one corner, clip the bag at the top, and cut the tip of the corner large enough for filling to fit through. A pastry bag or cake decorator also work great for the filling.
- Take a slice of bread, holding it open and pipe the filling in.
- Place in dredge for 5 seconds on each side.
- Place one side in crushed cereal, and then place on griddle non-cereal side first.
- Cook for 5 minutes on each side or until you have reached that golden brown crust on top.
- Top with chopped strawberries, fresh whipped cream, powdered sugar, and warm maple syrup.
- Dig in and Enjoy 🙂
