I asked my kids the top ten things that they are thankful for.
Here’s what thankfulness looks like through the eyes of a four, six, and eight year old:
1. My family
2. Friends
3. Electronics
4. A cozy home
5. Food to eat
6. A warm bed
7. Toys
8. Mom & Dad
9. Cousins
10.Clothes to wear
I asked my sweet hubby the same thing, and here’s what he had to say:
1. God’s forgiveness and endless, unconditional love.
2.God’s daily provisions both big and small.
3.My wife Cathy who is the most amazing person I know.
4.My sweet boy who makes me laugh.
5.My blonde sweet girl who melts my heart.
6.My little love who warms my heart with her constant hugs.
7.For my Mom and Dad.
8.For extended family.
9.For good friends.
10.The daily opportunity to influence the next generation.
I went out to lunch with my Mom one day, and then over to my parents for dinner another day and both times I forgot to ask her this question. So, in a text my Mom beautifully typed her top 10:
1. My salvation because of what Jesus did for me on the cross.
2. I am thankful for the man God has brought into my life to share dreams and be a Godly example to me and our children.
3.My 6 children and their spouses who bring us great joy.
4.My 4 grandchildren who are all so sweet and dear to us. We are truly blessed.
5.The good things my Mother taught me.
6. The good things my Father taught me. I couldn’t see it at the time but these things helped me become who I am today.
7. My Christian sisters who I share good times and lots of laughter!
8.My extended family, sister and brother in laws for all the great memories over the years.
9.The place where we live because its cozy and accommodates the whole family!
10. The jobs that God has provided to meet our needs.
11. The gift of laughter because I am a silly person and I love to laugh!
I could go on but Cathy only asked for 10, so I gave her 11! 🙂
Through the eyes of three different perspectives they are thankful for much the same things. Through the eyes of a child, a parent, and a grandparent I have seen thankfulness in the simple things, and the love for God and family woven into the fabric of their lives.
Join our family this November as we take 12 days of thankfulness to be reminded of all that we have been blessed with both big and small!
