Using kitchen shears we cut the feather shapes, and by hand we shape the tootsie roll pilgrim hats. Using a little frosting and other candy on a Hershey kiss we created the turkey’s sweet face. These Thanksgiving donuts are a great little treat to put in a treat bag or box, or to put on a dessert platter to serve on Thanksgiving day!
Are you a class parent that needs a cute, creative idea for your child’s harvest party? These Thanksgiving donuts are a great edible project that can be created in the classroom!

Unwrap all the candy.- For the pilgrim hat cut the tootsie roll in half and freehand shape into a pilgrim hat. Using some of the leftover pieces of airheads use the kitchen shears to slice a little strip and place over the tootsie roll hat.
- Cut a little piece of a mini chuckle and using frosting place it in the middle of the hat to make the buckle!
- Using a little frosting place the pilgrim hat in the donut.
- Pictured above the exact ingredients used to make the pilgrim hat.
Using kitchen shears cut freehand different sized feathers. After they are cut you can mold the into the shapes that you want to display.- Make a tip at the end to be able to stick into the donuts. Be sure to keep the feathers thick so that they stand up. The airheads can get a little flimsy, and if your need extra support use a little frosting to hold in place.
Stick your feathers in the donuts for the Indian headdress, use a little frosting if you have trouble getting them to stay in the donut.
For the turkey face stick a Hershey kiss in the center of the donut. Arrange the airhead feathers into the donut, use a little frosting if you need to.- Use a little frosting to add the chocolate chip eyes and candy corn nose!
Have the best time creating and eating these Thanksgiving donuts!- Makes enough for 4 pilgrim hats, 4 Indian headdresses, and 4 turkeys.
