In the beginning of the year I read Ann Voscamp’s book 1000 gifts and it changed my whole view on being thankful. Accepting a challenge to write down all that she was thankful for turned Ann’s journal into a book and opened the door for so much more.
I also challenged myself this year to be thankful for all things big and small, no matter what. I created this eucharisteo sign to remind me to be thankful for all that I have been blessed with.
I haven’t always been good at writing down all the things in my journal but I have been awaken to be thankful to even the littlest things in my life.
This year has been filled with many joys:
I became an Aunt to a beautiful baby boy!
I have been able to spend some really sweet moments with my family and friends!
I have been able to spend time volunteering at my church and kids school.
I planted my first garden and things actually grew!
This year has also been filled with some hardships:
My sweet Nona passed away.
I had a breast cancer scare.
My loving granny continues to slip away due to progressive Parkinson’s.
We have everyday up and downs, good and bad, hurts, hardships, joys and meaningful moments and in all things I am practicing eucharisteo. Giving thanks for all things. It’s not easy. It takes work, a change in your thinking, and in your heart attitude. Trust me there are still moments and days where I want to stay curled up snug in my bed with a good book and not come out. Those days don’t come around as often since I made the choice to practice euchristeo.
