Disney Pixar’s latest movie brings to the surface a great way to talk with your kids about different emotions! In a witty and entertaining movie Inside Out gives us a front row seat to what goes on inside one little girl’s head.
In a journey of fun, adventure, and life changing moments we see how all the emotions come together to create core memories.
Our Inside Out candy bark shows the swirl of emotions and how they come together to create a sweet treat and open the door to great conversation about our feelings.
After seeing the movie, we were inspired to head to Walmart to see what Inside Out things they had and we were greeted by this great display! You could hear my kids excited chatter throughout the store as they clung to the characters and were already reenacting different parts of the movie. We got everything we needed to create our colorful candy bark and some bead bracelets! Let’s head home and create!
This movie has started the spark of conversation with our kids about their emotions, and how having a balance of feelings is okay and healthy. As we create the bead bracelets we talk about memories that we create, islands of personality, staying true to who you are and learning how to express what you are feeling rather than keeping it inside! The plush toys even got bead bracelets of their own!
With our bead bracelets on and the plush toys helping we stirred up this sweet treat! A swirl of colors representing our emotions came together to represent the many colors that make up who we are and what emotions shape our personality most!
It was interesting to see how looking at the different colors and different faces on the plush toys created a certain reaction and response from our kids. When my sweet boy swirled the red chocolate into the other colors he said that anger can find it’s way into the other emotions if we allow it to.
When he saw the fire coming out of Anger the plush toy he chased his sisters around the house. To which my little love held up Disgust and said, ” Ewwww, gross”! They really understood each emotion and the feeling that each emotion has because Inside Out gave life and personality to the emotions.

This is such a cute (delicious) idea, and I love that you guys talked about the emotions as you made the bark. I'm going to have to do this with my youngest. It's an idea I think he could REALLY understand. #client
