5 life lessons from Disney’s Zootopia plus FREE printable party labels!
Now that school is out for the summer, sports are over for the season, and we are in relax mode we get around to doing those things that have been on our list for months now! On top of the list was watch Zootopia! We missed seeing it in the theater and we heard rave reviews about the movie! Like almost all Disney animated movies, we heard that it was fun, witty, entertaining for the whole family, and full of great lessons!
When we caught a free afternoon we cozied up with each other and some movie snacks and took a dive into the wild, zany land of Zootopia! A brilliant idea to create a land of Oasis for animals who had become seemingly human in nature!
We watched in amazement as Judy Hopps set out to make a difference in the world around her! From her hometown of Bunnyburrow to downtown Zootopia we are spellbound at where life takes this little bunny! She has a run-in with Nick Wilde, a con-artist fox, who tricks he and together they team up to uncover a heist and save Zootopia!

5 Life Lessons From Disney’s Zootopia:
Take A Chance And Try: Judy Hopps came to Zootopia to put her hardworking skills and knowledge to the test! Her first day at her new job didn’t go as smoothly as she had planned and when she walked home with her head down low she began to wonder if she had made the right choice. That night she turned her mixed feelings into something positive when she said, Tomorrow will be a great day.” We are always encouraging our kids to take a chance and try something new! You never know just how it will turn out until you try! When things don’t go as smoothly as you had planned, no worries, tomorrow is going to be a great day!
When You Hurt Someone, Ask For Forgiveness: Somewhere along the way Nick Wilde had some bad things happen that caused him to grow up to be a con artist. He shared with Judy that if the world sees you one way why try and change their minds. When he met Judy he thought that he had finally found someone who truly believed in him! Turns out that she was still a little afraid of what she was told foxes were capable of. She hurt him, and needed to ask for his forgiveness. We remind our kids that when you say or do something that is hurtful to someone else you need to ask for their forgiveness. Hug it out!
Never Give Up: Judy Hopps refused to give up her mission. She was determined to figure out exactly what was happening to some of the animals of Zootopia! She had a small moment where she let self-doubt and fear creep in and she questioned herself. In one spark of a moment though she remembered why she has gone to Zootopia in the first place and she hopped into a car and sped away to complete the mission that she had begun. We tell our kids to never, ever give up! Keep going and follow through with what you started. This has been very true to life for our kids especially with sports!
Change Starts With You: One little bunny in the big city of Zootopia set out to make a change. Judy Hopps couldn’t do it alone she needed the help of others around her. When she stepped up to the plate and stayed true to who she was it had a ripple effect on those around her. Others began to join in and help her in the mission to save Zootopia! We cheer our kids on as we watch them grow up to be people who have influence!
Try To Make The World A Better Place: “Life is a little more complicated than the slogan on a bumper sticker. Real life is messy”, Nick Wilde said to Judy. Even with this reality check from Nick, Judy was determined in her job and in her life to make the world a better place! Through the bumps, traps, and trials of their adventure they set the record straight, caught the bad guys, and saved the day! What are we each doing to make our world a better place?
